In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and Justice Sunday, join us for dialogue and video on his life as seen on the American Experience program, “Citizen King.” Back-to-school supplies for the first five students in attendance will be provided by Dr. Vincent.

 Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center’s annual tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Each year, LaFHAC staff organizes the summit to honor the Fair Housing Movement and continue building the movement for fair housing across Louisiana. This year’s virtual summit will feature a keynote address by noted author and journalist Linda Villarosa and panels exploring reproductive justice, homeownership, and the racial wealth gap and updates on recent policy victories and the work ahead.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hand Story Craft Event

Children will make a “How-Would-You-Change-The-World” paper plate and hand-tracing craft following the books As Good As Anybody by Richard Michelson, and excerpts from A Place to Land by Barry Wittenstein and Jerry Pinkney. Ages 6-11. All children under age nine must be accompanied by an adult. Call 225-274-4460 for information.


EBR Unity Prayer Breakfast + Community Service

The Unity Prayer Breakfast, in partnership with the Gamma Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc., engages diverse Faith Leaders, honors the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and uplifts the Baton Rouge community in prayer.

In partnership with The Walls Project, various Council Members and Mid City Redevelopment Alliance will host community service projects across Baton Rouge.

Approximately 250+ volunteers, including LSU students, staff, and community members, each year make it “a day on, not a day off” and engage in service projects through MLK Day of Service. Your participation is key to our impactful service. Individuals, as well as organizations, will be able to reserve their spots at a later date. Volunteers should wear tennis shoes and clothing that are appropriate for service work. Masks are required.

8:30 AM Buses Depart
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM Service Projects
1:00 PM Buses Return to LSU; Lunch

Volunteers must complete a waiver. All minors must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or representative of the organization they are affiliated with.
